Georgia to continue moving towards EU
By Jamila Babayeva
Georgia is making every effort to implement the necessary democratic reforms in the country and become closer to the EU countries.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili made the remark at the opening of an international conference on Georgia's economic integration with the EU in Tbilisi on March 27.
"We must have clear prospects on the way of integration with Europe because it is difficult to work unilaterally without them," he said.
Garibashvili said Georgia is ready to not only be a neighbor of the EU, but also to move further towards the Union.
Garibashvili stressed that Georgia will continue moving towards European integration, as well as conducting further reforms. "Striving to become a member of a united Europe is the choice of the Georgian people and the government realizes this desire."
The two-day event was organized by the office of Georgian State Minister for Integration into European and Euro-Atlantic Structures and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
Representatives of the executive and legislative bodies of Georgia, officials of the EU countries and the Eastern Partnership programme member-states, representatives of international financial institutions, business circles and NGOs attended the conference.
