Swiss president to visit Georgia

Swiss President Didier Burkhalter will pay an official visit to Georgia on June 3.
The Swiss president announced about this during the meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibahsvili in The Hague, the prime minister's press-service reported.
Garibashvili invited Burkhalter to visit Georgia at the meeting
at the economic forum in Davos.
The sides discussed the relations between the two countries,
cooperation in political-economic as well as in
educational-cultural and security fields.
It was noted that the consultations have been actively started with the Swiss side in order to develop the economic cooperation between the regions.
Burkhalter reaffirmed his support for Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty. The sides discussed the existing relations between Georgia and Russia.
From 2009 Switzerland enjoys a special mandate in relations of Georgia and Russia and it performs the role of a mediator. Interests Section of Georgia functions at the embassy of Switzerland in Moscow and Interests Section of Russia at the embassy of Switzerland in Tbilisi.
