Iran seeks to boost ties with Belarus

Iranian Industry, Mines, and Trade minister Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh has called for boosting trade ties with Belarus, the Mehr News Agency reported on March 18.

Nematzadeh voiced a need for manufacturing Iranian cars in Belarus at a meeting with Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makey in Tehran.

He also expressed hope that Iranian contractors would be supported more by the Belarusian government.

In 2010, Iran inaugurated a large copper wire factory and the second phase of the Samand car assembly line in Belarus.

Major exports of Belarus to Iran include potash fertilizers, synthetic fibers and synthetic fiber cords, while it imports cars, grape, automobile spare parts and tractors from Iran.
