Georgia to create int’l education centre
By Jamila Babayeva
An International Education Centre will be established in Georgia.
"This centre will implement all projects that were previously instigated by the Ministry of Education," Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said at a meeting with students at Tbilisi State University on March 13.
The government will assign financial support for the establishment of the new centre, intended to tackle problems in the country's education field.
In particular, $140 million will be allocated for this project as part of the U.S. Millennium Challenge program.
The studies will be held to determine the specialists of high demand in Georgia at the first stage. "All efforts will be focused on training of such specialists," he said.
The engineer-technologists, auxiliary workers, electric and oxy-acetylene welders, electricians, dressmakers, metalworkers, mechanics, and accountants are in high demand in the country, the survey in the labor market shows.
Garibashvili stressed that the government will sign agreements with students leaving for study abroad at public financing. The young people should return back after gaining education and work in state organizations.
"Georgia's human resources must be fully mobilized," Garibashvili underscored.
