By Jamila Babayeva
Georgia and Spain established a joint economic committee.
Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Spanish Secretary of State for Trade Jaime García-Legaz signed a relevant agreement on establishment the committee in Madrid.
The new committee will promote realization of the joint economic projects, the ministry reported.
"The committee will be a platform, on the bases of which various issues of economic cooperation will be resolved," Kvirikashvili said. "We agreed that we will organize a business forum in the near future, before the signing of the association agreement."
He noted that one of the directions of the committee's activity will be removal of technical barriers in trade between the countries.
"This juridical base is very important for attracting additional investments and creating new jobs in Georgia. We should open an access to the Georgian market for Spanish companies. It has both political and economic importance, as Spain is one of the important partners for Georgia," Kvirikashvili said.
He added that an investment protection agreement will soon be signed between Georgia and Spain.
