By Jamila Babayeva
Tbilisi Sakrebulo and Guangzhou, one of the largest trade and industrial cities of China, signed a memorandum on cooperation.
The document was signed by the chairman of Tbilisi Sakrebulo (City Assembly) Irakli Shikhiashvili and Mayor of Guangzhou Chen Jia Huang.
The memorandum will be a corner stone for establishment of close economic relations between the two cities, Tbilisi Sakrebulo reported.
"This document created a base for establishing strong economic relations between the Georgian and Chinese sides which means active cooperation in the sphere of tourism, infrastructure projects, urban planning and other spheres," Shikhiashvili said.
During the visit, the Georgian side also met with the leadership of Guangdong province.
At the initiative of Shikhiashvili, the Chinese side became familiarized with a proposal to hold economic and trade exhibitions in Tbilisi and Guangzhou to increase exports and imports.
The Georgian delegation will return Tbilisi on January18.
