Following the British parliamentary delegations' visit to Iran, the delegations of several other countries are expected to visit Iran soon.

Delegations from Canada and Ireland are expected to visit Iran in the near future, IRNA news agency reported.

Head of Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Aladdin Boroujerdi said the delegation, led by Chairman of the Oireachtas (the Irish Parliament) Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade Pat Breen, will arrive at the Iranian capital on January 11.

During his stay in Tehran, Breen is expected to meet Boroujerdi and a number of Iranian political and parliamentary figures.

The delegation from Ireland is expected to discuss the grounds for the enhancement of cooperation between Dublin and Tehran with Iranian officials.

Hossein Sheikholeslam, advisor to Iran parliament speaker Ali Larijani on international affairs, said the trip comes at the invitation of Boroujerdi, and will seek to boost parliamentary and political relations between the two countries further.

A British parliamentary delegation headed by former foreign secretary Jack Straw arrived in Tehran on January 7, and they intend to discuss issues of mutual interest with senior Iranian officials during the 3-day visit.

A delegation from Italy, led by the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Italian Senate Lamberto Dini, also visited Iran on January 3.

A senior German lawmaker from the co-ruling Christian Democratic Party (CDU) is scheduled to travel to Iran to hold talks with senior Iranian officials about the Geneva nuclear agreement.

During his two-day visit to Tehran, the German lawmaker will hold talks with several Iranian officials, and then travel to other Iranian cities.

Prior to his trip, Schockenhoff said the nuclear deal clinched between Iran and six world powers on November 24, 2013 would be the focus of his attention during discussions with Iranian officials.

Schockenhoff described the deal as a window of opportunity that could pave the way for the full resolution of the West's decade-old dispute with Iran over the country's nuclear program.
