Tbilisi, Moscow prepare for new round of talks

By Nazrin Gadimova

Georgian Prime Minister's Special Representative for Relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze will visit Prague to attend the fifth round of the Georgian-Russian negotiations.

The negotiations will be held from November 19-23.

Abashidze will meet with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin, Trend news agency reported.

Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili has already issued a relevant decree.

The sides will mull the issues concerning trade relations, transport relations, humanitarian-cultural and scientific relations and other possible areas of cooperation.

Georgia and its giant northern neighbor Russia have had no diplomatic relations since a brief war in 2008. Tbilisi broke off relations with Moscow in August 2008 when Moscow crushed a Georgian assault to reassert control over two rebel regions - South Ossetia and Abkhazia - and later recognized the regions.

Georgia announced the two unrecognized republics as occupied territories in September 2008.
