Georgia, Israel abolish visa regime
By Nazrin Gadimova
Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili announced that visa regime between Georgia and Israel was abolished.
Ivanishvili made the remark following his meeting with Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Ze'ev Elkin on October 31.
"Israel has done it, and our guests have brought this gift. The visa regime is abolished and the Georgians will be able to go to Israel without a visa," he said, noting that only technical issues remained to solve.
In turn, Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze said that it does not mean that Georgian citizens will be able to go to Israel without visas right 'tomorrow'.
"Very soon an agreement on visa-free entry for those with diplomatic and official passports will enter into force, and negotiations on how to make it to cover on ordinary citizens will continue," she said. "This process will take a few months."
