Tehran, IAEA to eye nuclear issues
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araqchi said that he will confer with Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano in Vienna on October 28
Araqchi, who is also a member of Iranian nuclear negotiating team with the western governments, said that the meeting will take place before the next Iran-IAEA talks scheduled to be held on October 28-29, IRNA news agency reported.
The West suspects Tehran's nuclear program may be aimed at developing nuclear weapons capability.
Iran insists that its nuclear program is purely for peaceful purposes and reiterates that its main demand is that its right to uranium enrichment, as stipulated in the NPT agreement, be recognized.
Aaraqchi went on to say that four experts from the trade, banking, oil and transport sectors have joined to the Iranian nuclear negotiating team with the western governments.
Araqchi refused to name the individuals but said that the Iranian seven-people team of experts presided by director general of Foreign Ministry for political affairs, Hamid Baeidinejad, will engage in talks with experts of Group 5+1 in Vienna on October 30-31.
Iran and the P5+1 -- the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany -- have held several rounds of talks on a range of issues, with the main focus being on Iran's nuclear energy program. The last talks were held behind closed doors in Geneva on October 15-16.
The two sides have agreed to meet again in Geneva on November 7-8.
