Georgia, Romania to boost ferry connection

A memorandum "On cooperation in the sphere of ferry transport" between Georgia's Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry and Romania Transport Ministry will take effect in Tbilisi on October 25.
The document will be signed by Georgia's Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Mikeladze and Romania's Deputy Minister of Transport Marian Buitsa.
The Georgian ministry reports that the visit of the Romanian delegation and execution of a memorandum of mutual understanding will contribute to restoration of ferry connection between the ports of the two countries in the near future, which in turn is a prerequisite of growth of cargo turnover in Georgia's ports, development of transit potential and creation of new working places .
During the visit, the Romanian delegation, who arrived in the country on October 23, visited the Batumi and Poti ports, as well as there was held a meeting of the bilateral working group on restoration of ferry train between the Romanian Constanta port and Georgian Batumi and Poti ports.
The proposals of the interested private companies about operating these ferry lines were viewed.
