Georgia seeks to cut fuel prices

Georgia intends to import cheaper fuel from Turkmenistan and thereby decrease prices in the domestic market, Georgian Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze told journalists on Tuesday.

He said that the fuel from Turkmenistan is delivered to Georgia through Azerbaijan.

"Azerbaijan has stated its willingness to empty space in the transit corridor for our cargo," he said.

According to him, negotiations with Turkmenistan are reaching their end.

"After opening the new supply market, we will feel the freedom of this market and I don't exclude the possibility of a reduction in fuel prices," Kaladze concluded.
