Iran's economy to be unstable without competition with others: President

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said that without competition with other countries, Iran's economy will be unstable, official press reported.

Rouhani made the remarks during the National Young Elites Conference.

He went on to say that Iran's economy is linked to global economy, adding that country's main income are both oil and non-oil exports.

Iran's willingness to continue its nuclear program, which as the Islamic Republic claims, is peaceful, has caused the Western states to impose various sanctions on it, which have deeply affected the economy of Iran.

Due to sanctions, Iran's export, import, financial sector, banking sector have become limited in activity - something that the current administration of Hassan Rouhani is trying to change by normalizing the relations with the West, namely the United States.

During his speech, Rouhani also spoke of his administration's foreign policy, noting that the officials managed to move country's foreign policy 500 days ahead in 50 days.

"We can resist against powers which threaten our national interests, by not using slogans, but with contrivance," Rouhani said.

"Constructive criticism is useful for country's development," Rouhani said, adding that this criticism should exist within the "morality" framework.
