Joint customs control launched on Kazakh-Kyrgyz border

A joint control was launched in June on the Kordai (Kazakhstan) - Ak-Jol (Kyrgyzstan) checkpoint to speed up goods passing through the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border, Kazakh Finance Minister Bolat Jamishev said .

"This means the customs control is carried out by Kazakhstan's customs service employees on the territory of Kyrgyzstan during the importation of goods to Kazakhstan," Jamishev said.

He said the implementation of a joint control has led to a significant decrease in time for passing through customs control by individuals at checkpoints and also significantly decreased the problems with so called 'porters' which attempted to move commercial goods under the guise of goods for personal use.

"This problem was solved through the creation of green and red corridors right in the adjacent territory and a separation of travellers flowing through," the minister said.

He recalled that during the meeting between the Chinese and Kazakh prime ministers on September 1-2, 2012, an agreement was reached on the creation of a green corridor at the Bakhty - Pokitu checkpoint to speed up the passing and customs clearance of agricultural products.

"It is planned to put into operation a facility at the Bakhty checkpoint whereby a green corridor for fruit and vegetable products will be implemented.
