Kazakh Kyzylorda airport to have new terminal

An international terminal will be built at the Kyzyl-Orda airport in the autumn of 2014, Kyzyl-Orda Governor Krymbek Kusherbayev said at a briefing on September 20.

"It is planned to construct a modern international terminal at the Kyzyl-Orda airport. The runway at the airport is in good condition as three years ago it was upgraded. With the support of oil companies' social projects, we have developed the project which is now under examination. By the autumn of 2014, the international terminal will have been built," Kusherbayev said.

According to him, this issue has already been considered jointly with ICAO and the CIS State Aviation Committee.

"In addition, we already have an airport in the city of Baikonur. We are discussing with our Russian counterparts the possibility of its use. All this creates significant potential for the region," he said.
