Iran’s Rouhani urges IRGC to avoid political games

Iranian president Hassan Rouhani said that Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is on the front lines defending the Islamic Revolution, Fars news agency reported.

Speaking at a meeting of IRGC commanders in Tehran, ge said that the IRGC should keep distance from political games, adding that IRGC is beyond country's political processes.

Former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Rouhollah Khomeini had banned the IRGC from politics, but during past decade IRGC became massively involved in Iran's political and financial issues.

IRGC is always active in all critical issues including terror operations against Iran, resolving insecurity in first years after the revolution and eliminating the global arrogance countries' conspiracies against Iran, Rouhani said.

He underlined that all Iranian people must feel confidence, relaxation and comfort and see IRGC as their defender.

"IRGC is different from the world's classic armies"- he said, adding that enemies' fear of IRGC is not linked to its military equipments, but spirituality and devotion.
