Georgia sees rise in foreign direct investment
Gruzstat reported that the foreign direct investment made in Georgia totaled $232 million in the second quarter of 2013, increasing by 3 percent compared to the first quarter of 2013 and by 7 percent compared to the second quarter of 2012.
According to the preliminary data, the foreign direct investment in Georgia totaled $459 million in January-June 2013.
The foreign direct investment in Georgia totaled $240 million in the second quarter of 2013.
The largest investment was made in the energy sector and constituted $66 million, or 29 percent of the total foreign direct investment. Processing industry is in the second place - $59 million, while in the third place -transport and communication- $46 million.
