EU to issue 16 million euros to Georgia

The European Union will allocate 16 million euros worth of assistance to Georgia as part of the "more for more" principle.

A financial agreement will be signed by the Georgian State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Alexi Petriashvili and European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood policy Stefan Fule in Batumi, where the conference "Georgia's European Way: The EU's Eastern European Partners - Towards the Vilnius Summit" takes place on July 11.

"We hope and believe that there will be a signing of an association agreement at the Vilnius summit," Petriashvili said.

He also expressed his hope in carrying out discussion on the current events taking place in Georgia and importance of EU assistance in terms of irreversibility of reforms and building of democratic institutions in Georgia during the summit.

"Together with Stefan Fule, I will sign a financial agreement on allocation of 16 million euros," Petriashvili added.
