PACE refuses to discuss situation in Georgia
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) refused to discuss the situation in Georgia in its summer session, which started on June 24. This decision was supported by 58 votes. 73 members were against it.
The MEPs refused to consider the Georgia issue and decided that the appeals of the Georgian President and Prime Minister are enough.
Representatives of the parliamentary minority insisted on discussing this issue, because they believe that the situation before the presidential elections to be held in October, is strained and there are not equal conditions for all candidates' participation.
The discussion of a "Georgian issue" was envisaged by the agenda of the PACE session this week.
