Turkmenistan, Germany to discuss coop in Berlin

A regular meeting of the joint Turkmen-German working group will be held in Berlin on May 27-29, the Turkmen government said.

According to the report, the joint working group is an effective mechanism in the implementation of bilateral cooperation that serves mutual interests.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has stressed the importance of cooperation with the Western European country.

German Foreign Office State Secretary Emily Haber said Turkmenistan's important role in ensuring regional security, as well as diversifying Europe's energy supplies.

Turkmen hydrocarbons can be piped to Europe via the Caspian Sea by a potential 300 km pipeline along the bottom of the sea to the coast of Azerbaijan. Europe expects to diversify the sources of gas consumption due to the Caspian resources.
