Iran to tighten border security on the eve of upcoming elections
Iran will tighten the border security on the eve of the upcoming
presidential elections, Fars news agency reported citing deputy
head commander of the border security, Mohammad Reza Tavoosi.
He said that the elections are closing in, and the control at the
borders needs to be strengthened for security purposes.
Tavoosi added that security forces will be tasked to make sure the
voting at the border provinces of Iran will be carried out without
incidents.
The deputy commander noted that the border security will be on
alert around 15 Iranian border provinces.

Sharafi said that the residents of border areas will assist border
guards during the presidential elections, after necessary
training.

in the mountainous areas, it is planned to strengthen control on
maritime borders too.
Iran will hold the 11th presidential election on June 14.
The voters will select the successor of the current President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is not able to participate in the
elections for the third term according to the country's
constitutional laws.
The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national
