Internet access partially blocked in Tajikistan
Internet access has been partially blocked in Tajikistan after online critics lambasted President Emomalii Rahmon for excessive spending at his son's wedding and made snide comments about his drinking at the event, local media reported on May 26, dpa reported.
Noting the president's exuberant dancing in videos released from the wedding, internet bloggers commented that the president had clearly consumed more than just mineral water at the 1.5-million-euro (1.9-million-dollar) wedding.
That prompted the partial internet shutdown in the poor Central Asian country, where presidential elections are expected later this year.
