New party set up in Kazakhstan

Members of Kazakh Democratic Party Adilet have voted for merging with Kazakh Rukhaniyat Party. The party established following the merging was called Birlik (Unity), Novosti-Kazakhstan news agency reported with the reference to the Birlik party's press-service.

Serik Sultangali was unanimously elected as the party's chairman.

The new party has 140,000 members.

The issue of merging parties was proposed by Adilet party's chairman Tolegen Sadykhov because of "similarity in goals and aims of the two parties".
