Ex-Iranian VP to run for president

Former Iranian Vice-President Ruhollah Ahmadzadeh Kermani has announced that he would run in the upcoming presidential election, Fars news agency reported.

Ahmadzadeh Kermani announced his candidacy in Tehran on Tuesday before embarking on a visit to the holy city of Qom to meet with senior clerics and religious authorities.

During his visit to Qom, Kermani is slated to meet senior clerics Ayatollah Hossein Nouri Hamedani, Ayatollah Alawi Gorgani and Ayatollah Seyed Mohammad Baqer Movahed Abtahi.

The 11th presidential election in Iran will be held on June 14.
