By Sabina Idayatova
A group of residents of the Armenian city of Gyumri will march to
the capital Yerevan to participate in a rally to be held on Freedom
Square next Tuesday, Armenia Today news agency reported.
"The march is a protest against the massive fraud and official results of recent presidential elections," the initiators said in a statement.
Seven candidates had joined the race for the February 18 presidential election. According to official data, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan won with 58.64 percent of the votes. Opposition Heritage party's leader Raffi Hovhannisyan ranked second with 36.74 percent. The inauguration of Sargsyan is scheduled for next Tuesday.
"We will fight until justice prevails. As they say, 'justice
gets sick, but does not die'," the statement says.
The marchers will be accompanied by Deputy Chairman of the Heritage
party Armen Martirosyan from the beginning till the end.
The march will start on Sunday in the morning at the Theater Square in Gyumri. The residents of cities and villages located on the way from Gyumri to Yerevan will be able to join the protest.
