Radar-evading aircraft forced to fly away after warning from Iran
An aircraft that was said to be radar-evading from its
manufacturer, was identified by Iran's systems, and given a
warning, after which it had to fly away, Fars news agency
reported.
According to Commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base
Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili, the foreign aircraft was spotted
by Iran during the celebrations of 34th anniversary of the Islamic
Revolution.
"The aircraft was spotted, and given an appropriate warning,"
Esmaili said, adding that after receiving the warning, the aircraft
flew away.
The General did not disclose what country the aircraft belonged to,
or any other details of the incident.
In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense
sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential
military equipment and systems.
Esmaili said in February that Iran will unveil an indigenous
radar-evading unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in April.
He said at the time that the Hazem drone, will be unveiled on April
18 on the National Army Day, adding that the UAV is stealth, enjoys
high maneuvering capabilities, and can be used in reconnaissance
missions.
Tehran has repeatedly assured other countries that its military
might poses no threat to other states, insisting that the Islamic
Republic's defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
