Iran tests new rocket

Iran has tested Zafar Cruise rocket successfully during a war game of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in eastern parts of the country, Mehr news agency reported on Sunday.

The Great Prophet 8 military exercise began on Saturday. The eastern areas that the drill covers include the cities of Kerman, Siriz and Sirjan.

According to the report, Zafar Cruise rocket launched on a high-speed boat could hit the target from long distance.

Iran's air defense system received Zafar Cruise rocket in April 2011.

The Zafar anti-ship cruise rocket is a short-range missile capable to be launched on boat, helicopter and ships.
