Tajikistan to withdraw mining licenses from Singapore firm

The Tajik government may withdraw two mining licenses from Singapore's company Marvis, CA-News reported referring to the chairman of Head Administration of Geology under Tajikistan's government Azim Ibrohim.

"The company has not fulfilled its obligations with regard to implementation of the projects, what might be caused by the company's financial difficulties," Ibrohim said.

He underlined that the administration offered the company to prepare the project on mining. However, the offer was left unanswered.

Ibrohim said that under the contract, Marvis was obliged to develop the bottom of the natural gas field Kyzyl Tumshuk in South Tajikistan, which has huge gas resources according to Tajikistan. The company also has a license for developing another field Guldara in the south of the country.

Ibrohim said that all the documents on withdrawal of the licenses have been submitted to the court.
