Mubarak transferred to a military hospital
Egyptian authorities Thursday said ousted president Hosny Mubarak was transferred from the prison where he is serving a life sentence to a military hospital for medical treatment,Trend news agency reported referring to Egypt's state-run television.
Mubarak's was returned to hospital after his health again
deteriorated, the broadcaster said, DPA reported.
Earlier, public prosecutor Talaat Ibrahim agreed to the transfer
after a medical report recommended that Mubarak, 84, be taken to
the hospital in the southern Cairo quarter of Maadi, said Major
General Mohammed Ibrahim, the chief of the Prison Department.
Mubarak was last week taken to the same hospital for medical tests
after he suffered head and rib injuries in a fall.
He returned hours later to the prison near Cairo where he is
serving jail time for his role in deadly attacks on demonstrators
during an uprising that eventually deposed him almost two years
ago.
In June, Mubarak spent a month in hospital after reportedly
slipping into coma.
Mubarak ruled Egypt for three decades before being ousted in
February 2011 following 18 days of street protests that gripped
areas across Egypt. He is serving a life sentence after being
accused of failing to prevent the killings of protesters in
demonstrations in 2011.
