Former Kosovar PM acquitted in Hague Retrial
The UN war crimes tribunal has acquitted former Kosovar Prime
Minister Ramush Haradinaj of all charges of war crimes during the
Kosovo conflict in an unprecedented retrial, RIA Novosti
reported.
The war crimes tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague had
acquitted Haradinaj in 2008 on charges including the murder and
torture of Serbs.
However, the ruling was later overturned because of widespread
intimidation of prosecution witnesses.
Verdicts are also due on Thursday in the retrial of two of
Haradinaj's former Kosovo Liberation Army comrades, Idriz Balaj and
Lahi Brahimaj.
Balaj and Brahimaj are accused of abusing Serbs or their supporters
in 1998 as Kosovo battled for independence from Serbia.
They insist they are innocent.
