Study shows progress in closing gender gap

According to a new study, almost all countries have made progress in closing the gap in healthcare and education between women and men, Radio Liberty reported.

But it also shows that women continue to struggle more than men to get top jobs and salaries.

The World Economic Forum said in its annual Global Gender Gap Report that Nordic countries are doing the best job of closing the sex divide.

Iran and Pakistan are ranked at the bottom.

The study showed that only 60 percent of countries have narrowed the economic gap.

Only 20 percent progressed on a political level.

The report covering 135 countries was released hours after the failure of a European Commission proposal to set a 40-percent quota for women on the boards of listed companies.
