Kiev to host meeting of GUAM officials
Kiev will host a meeting of the GUAM Council of National Coordinators on Thursday, September 13.
Aspects of cooperation with partner countries and issues of current projects will be discussed at the meeting, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said at a briefing on Monday.
GUAM was established by post-Soviet countries in 1997 during the EU presidential summit in Strasbourg. In 1999, Uzbekistan joined the organization, and left four years later. A decision was made to announce GUAM as an international organization under the new name, "Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM," at the organization's first summit in Kiev in 2006.
Azerbaijan has been chairing the organization since Jan. 2012.
