Claims Turkish PM Erdogan ‘poisoned’ by Armenian believers

Head of a Turkish group fighting Armenian allegations has claimed Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan could have been poisoned at an Iftar meal served for him and representatives of Armenian and other religious minorities last August.

Goksel Gulbey, the head of ASIMDER, said the poisoning could have been the cause of the digestive tract surgery which Erdogan underwent two months thereafter.

Gulbey said conflicting answers are being provided to the public regarding the prime minister’s health problems, which "raises suspicion".

The Iftar dinner, served for Erdogan and his spouse during the latest month of Ramadan at an archaeological museum of religious communities, was also attended by the head of the Armenian hospital Surp Pirgic, Bedros Shirinoglu, Archbishop Aram Ateshyan of the Armenian Apostolic Church, representatives of the Greek and Jewish religious communities as well as government officials.
