Saakashvili dismisses claims on his Armenian descent
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has dismissed claims by an Armenia-based television channel that he is of Armenian descent.
"I am not Armenian, and my mother was even amazed that no one is talking about that," Saakashvili was quoted by Gruzia Online news agency as saying.
The Georgian president said that the TV channel had sought an interview with him.
"They said they were aware of my [alleged] Armenian descent and were afraid that I would have a complex over this," he said. "So, I told them: ‘It would be a great honor for me to be Armenian, but the problem is that I am not.’"
