Armenian lobby slams US policy
The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) has criticized
US policies.
In an appeal to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, the group
requested her meeting with the Armenian community in the United
States. ANCA said the goal of the meeting was to inquire about
Washington's future policy toward Armenia.
The appeal said the Bush administration has made a number of
mistakes and taken unfriendly actions against the South Caucasus
republic in the past seven years. These included the failure to
recognize the so-called "genocide of Armenians" and to put pressure
on Azerbaijan and Turkey over their allegedly keeping the country
in a blockade, the reduction in assistance, and Armenia's inclusion
in the list of countries supporting terror.
ANCA claimed that the White House's inappropriate attitude had
caused tension in the "historical relations" between Armenia and
the U.S.
