MOSCOW – Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev chaired a meeting in the Kremlin on Thursday, ITAR-TASS reported.

The meeting was organized following Medvedev’s inspection of security at Moscow’s Kievsky railway station. It features Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov and Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika.

Having visited the railway station, Medvedev ordered Chaika to clear the situation with RZD /Russia’s Railroads Company/, which did not follow the instructions regarding security at railway transport. Medvedev criticizes straightforwardly the work of the police at the station and ordered the minister to have all mistakes corrected.

Medvedev was dissatisfied with security at the Kievsky railway station in Moscow. He came there together with heads of the interior ministry, the security service and the Prosecutor-General’s Office. At the entrance to the station, he did not see any police. Besides, not a single metal detector frame was installed there.

Medvedev went to see the station’s director and asked him how the security was provided for there.

"Where is the police, how do you control the situation, they must be patrolling here," Medvedev said.

The director replied that there were three security posts and 64 video cameras in the building.

Medvedev went to the office of the police on guard and asked, why there were no policemen in the building. The man started calling his staff to find out where his subordinates were. Having failed to hear anything clear, he went to the platform to see nobody but passengers.

In the meanwhile the station’s director told the president about the improved control at the station and the instructions regarding it.

"Every two hours those on duty and the police inspect the territory and the basements," he said.

The director added that he had applied for metal detector frames, and the police on duty said that the application had been filed ten days earlier.

"Is everything clear?" asked Medvedev addressing Nurgaliyev, who nodded in response.

"This is an object similar to the underground or airports," Medvedev said. "Everything must be done tomorrow."

He also ordered the Prosecutor-General Office to "clear the situation with RZD" and referred to his recent visit to Moscow’s underground, where metal detector frames had been installed.
