Armenian PM’s former aide charged with pedophilia – report

YEREVAN – A sex scandal has arisen in Armenia involving Prime Minister Tigran Sarkisian’s former aide who is accused of pedophilia, reports say.

Police investigators have established that Serob Ter-Pogosian’s victims were boys from low-income families who were lured with money.

Ter-Pogosian, a US citizen, was dismissed from his post on December 31, 2010.

Prime Minister Sarkisian wrote on his web-blog that he was angered and "shocked".

"I have just been informed that my former adviser, owner of a mining company, member of the Public Council under the Police, holder of the Medal for Cooperation, Serob Ter-Pogosian, is accused of grave and indecent crimes. I can’t find the words to express my wrath," Sarkisian said.

He said he would be closely following the case, voicing confidence that all the culprits would be brought to book.
