Turkish Cyprus blasts Armenian leader’s remarks
ANKARA – The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has condemned Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s statement claiming that Turkey has occupied Northern Cyprus recently made in the Greek Cypriot parliament.
TRNC Foreign Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun has said in a statement that the remarks do not comply with international law and historical facts.
Ozgurgun’s statement said Sargsyan lacks knowledge about the history of Cyprus and had made an erroneous statement for the sake of appeasing the Greek Cyprus, Turkish media reported.
It also labeled as contradictory such remarks by the leader of Armenia, which occupies Azerbaijan's Nagorno-Karabakh region without leaning on any international accord.
