Armenian President concerned over closed borders

YEREVAN – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has said closed borders raise both political and economic concerns.

Both Azerbaijan and Тurkey have shut their borders with Armenia due to its occupying over 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory.

In his interview with a Ukrainian TV channel, Sargsyan also touched on Armenia-Turkey relations, claiming that shut borders are taking a dire impact not only on his country but also Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan, i.e. the whole region.

"But sealed borders are not a reason to give up and do not mean that we have no future. Our businessmen are accustomed to this situation. As for the perceived lack of Armenian goods in Turkey and that of Turkish goods in Armenia, I can say that this is not the case and business is finding its way."
