Armenia recognizes Azeri integrity – report

YEREVAN – Armenia’s Foreign Ministry has reportedly confirmed the occupied Nagorno Karabakh region as Azerbaijan’s territory. One of the maps posted on the ministry’s website indicates Nagorno Karabakh and seven other occupied districts within Azerbaijan’s borders, Armenia Today news agency reported.

The map is available in the Geography section at www.armeniaforeignministry.com/arm/index.html.

Armenia Today also said the indication of these lands as part of Azerbaijan has sparked an outcry in Armenia.

"The failure to cite the ‘Nagorno Karabakh Republic’ on the Armenian Foreign Ministry’s map is not only an insult but this fact also lays out the ministry’s actual stance on NKR’s independence," the report said.

Nagorno Karabakh is an Azerbaijani region occupied by Armenia since a 1994 cease-fire ended separatist hostilities that killed an estimated 30,000 people and ousted about one million Azerbaijanis from their homes. Years of peace talks have brought few tangible results.
