NATO to stay out of South Caucasus conflicts
BAKU - NATO is currently not interfering with the settlement of
ethnic conflicts in the South Caucasus region, an alliance official
said Wednesday.
Laure Borgomano, an aide for the French delegation to NATO, told a roundtable in Baku that Azerbaijan and Armenia have not raised the issue of NATO’s involvement in settling their long-standing conflict, either.
Addressing the event on NATO’s new concept, held at Azerbaijan’s Center for Strategic Studies, Borgomano went on to assess NATO- Azerbaijan relations. She said a group of the alliance’s experts are presently holding broad consultations on Azerbaijan, adding that the process of the South Caucasus republic’s ultimate integration into the world community was crucial.
