Armenian leader gets no meeting with Britain PM
Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian did not receive a warm
welcome during his recent official visit to Britain. Sarkisian, who
was greeted at the London airport by the Armenian ambassador and a
representative of the Armenian Apostle Church, was not hosted by
the country’s Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Armenia Today news
agency said.
Grant Bagratyan, Armenia’s former prime minister, believes the lack
of a warm welcome was the organizers’ fault. He opined that the
inviting side simply did not manage to arrange Sarkisian’s meeting
with Brown.
"It does not matter whether this was an official or a working
visit. At least a phone conversation with the prime minister should
have been arranged, not to mention the greeting at the airport,"
said Bagratyan.*
