Iran to fine Armenia over breach of gas contract
Iran will impose a fine on Armenia over violating the agreement on
gas sales reached by the two countries, Iranian IRNA news agency
reported.
Under the contract, through Iran is ready to supply more gas than it currently delivers to Armenia, the South Caucasus republic is not receiving the designated volume. Armenia has begun receiving Iranian fuel with delays because the section of the pipeline transporting it in its territory is inoperational.
According to Rasul Salman, an executive of Iran’s National Gas Export Company, Yerevan will be informed of the punitive action once the amount of the fine is determined.*
