Azerbaijan suspends gas supplies to Georgia
Azerbaijan has suspended gas supplies to neighboring Georgia,
officials said.
First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov explained the measure by the reduction in the volume of associated gas delivered to the state oil company SOCAR by BP Azerbaijan.
"Talks are under way with BP. The company is to deliver to us 2 billion cubic meters of associated gas this year," he said.
Eyyubov said Azerbaijan will resume the supplies to Georgia if 8 billion cubic meters of gas are produced from the offshore Shahdaniz field in 2008.
Azerbaijan was selling gas to the neighboring South Caucasus republic for $120 per 1,000 cubic meters.
