Armenian film gets top award in Turkey

28 October 2009 00:16 (UTC+04:00)
A movie shot by Armenian filmmakers has been granted the top award at the Golden Orange Film Festival held in the Turkish resort city of Antalya, Armenia Today news agency reported.
The movie, called ``Borders``, directed by Arutyun Khachaturyan, reportedly has no bearing on the Turkish-Armenian border and defines a general concept of a dividing line between two countries, i.e. a frontier. It features what is described as Armenian refugees from Azerbaijan.
Since Khachaturyan was in Japan at the time to present the film at another festival, Vrezh Petrosyan, the camera operator, travelled to Antalya to receive the award.
``I am delighted to say that our film has won the main prize in the international film nomination, in other words we shared the award with a Russian movie,`` said Petrosyan.
``The fact we received the main award, by itself, shows that the film was highly appreciated.``
