Repeated municipal elections to be held in 7 districts of Istanbul
By Trend
Repeated municipal elections will be held in 7 districts of Istanbul, Trend reports with reference to Turkish media April 3.
This decision was made by the Supreme Electoral Council of Turkey (YSK) after the Turkish ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) protested the election results in Istanbul.
The AKP protested the results of municipal elections in all 39 districts of Istanbul.
Bayram Senocak, head of the Istanbul branch of AKP, stated that the AKP has evidence of the election results in Istanbul being falsified in favor of candidate of the opposition Republican People's Party Ekrem Imamoglu.
Sadi Guven, head of the Supreme Electoral Council of Turkey (YSK), said on April 2 that the results of the municipal elections in Istanbul remain unchanged.
As reported earlier, the candidate of the opposition Republican People’s Party (Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi) Ekrem Imamoglu is ahead of candidate of the ruling Justice and Development Party (Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi (AKP)) Binali Yildirim on preliminary results of the municipal elections in Istanbul.
