Monument to `genocide` to be erected in Israel
A monument to the so-called genocide of Armenians, a
claim of the World War I-era mass killings in the Ottoman Empire,
will be erected in Petah Tikva, Israel, said the spokesman for the
World Azerbaijanis Congress (WAC) last week.
Alirza Amanbayli said the initiative to build the monument in the city, located 10 kilometers north of the capital, Tel-Aviv, had been put forth by Ararat, the union of Armenians in Israel.
The Petah Tikva municipality has authorized the project.
Israel has not formally recognized the alleged genocide of Armenians.
