Association "Uztextileprom" held a meeting with the delegation of Ajlan & Bros Corporation, headed by Director General Nicholas Gilani on January 24, 2019, the press service of the Association said.

During the talks, the parties discussed the establishment and further strengthening of bilateral cooperation, including the participation of the Saudi Arabian Corporation in the implementation of joint investment projects in the textile industry in Uzbekistan.

In turn, the management and specialists of the Uztextileprom Association provided detailed information about the competitive advantages and the conditions created for foreign investors, benefits and preferences, including in the textile and garment and knitwear industry, the level of remuneration, the cost of engineering communications.

Representatives of a foreign company praised the achievements in the Uzbek textile industry, as well as the country's large-scale economic reforms.

Following the meeting, Saudi Arabian side announced its intention to implement an investment project in Uzbekistan, to establish the production of finished textiles.

During the stay in Uzbekistan, meetings were scheduled at the khokimiyats of the Jizzakh, Andijan and Navoi oblasts, to determine the place of deployment, as well as the project parameters.

Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia were established in February 1992.

The trade turnover between two countries amounted to only $ 42 million in January-September 2018.

An official visit of the first Uzbek President Islam Karimov to Saudi Arabia took place in April 1992.

The Consulate General of Uzbekistan began its activities in Jeddah in November 1992. In 1995, the Embassy of Uzbekistan opened in Riyadh. Since 1997, Saudi Arabian Embassy has been operating in Tashkent.

The Saudi delegation headed by the Chairman of the Consultative Council (Parliament) Abdullah Al ash-Sheikh visited Uzbekistan in April 2012.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at the invitation of the King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, was in Saudi Arabia to attend the Summit of Arab-Muslim countries and the United States on May 21, 2017. Within the framework of the Summit, Mirziyoyev met leaders of a number of states, including the King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
