WB allocates $ 75 million for secondary education’s modernization in Kazakhstan

Total cost of the project “Modernization of secondary education” in Kazakhstan is $75 million.

One of the main directions of the project is to improve student performance in rural general education and small-scale schools, according to the press service of the department.

Educational materials and multimedia equipment for rural schools will be purchased with the money allocated, educational programs will be improved, the pedagogical potential of rural teachers will be improved, and support will be provided for children with special educational needs, according to the plan.

Activities planned within the project will help increase the capacity of each school in the country, reduce the gap in school performance and level the quality of education between rural and urban schools. At the national level, the project will help strengthen human capital for the sustainable development of the country.

“In the end, the long-term results of the project will increase the competitiveness of Kazakhstan and will have a positive socio-economic effect for the whole society,” the Ministry of Education assures.

During the period of cooperation, the World Bank provided loans to Kazakhstan to finance 46 projects totaling over $ 8.1 billion. The World Bank’s project portfolio includes 22 projects, of which seven are ongoing and 15 projects under partnership agreements totaling $ 4.1 billion.
