Ankara ready to protect local companies from consequences of US sanctions on Iran

By Trend

Ankara will take steps to protect Turkish companies having economic ties with Iranian companies and which may suffer as a result of US sanctions against Iran, the Turkish media quoted Spokesman for the Turkish Foreign Ministry Hami Aksoy as saying May 25.

Reportedly, Aksoy has not disclosed a specific action plan on Turkey to protect local companies from US sanctions.

Previously, Turkey did not join the anti-Iranian sanctions imposed by the West. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had said that the new US sanctions against Iran will not have any effect.

"The US refusal to stick to the nuclear deal shows that Washington was not sincere in relation to the nuclear agreement with Iran," Erdogan said.

US President Donald Trump announced that the US is withdrawing from the agreement with Iran on the nuclear program reached by the "six" international mediators (Russia, the US, Britain, China, France, and Germany) in 2015. The head of the White House also announced the restoration of all sanctions, which were suspended as a result of the deal.
